Short answer: an Airpura model ending in 14, like the R614, V614 or UV614, is the same machine as the one ending in 00, with one change: a Super HEPA filter rated 99.99% at 0.3 microns instead of True HEPA at 99.97%. Same cabinet, same carbon, same fan, same room size. It costs $40 more in the 400 series and $50 more in the 600 and 700 series. For most homes True HEPA is plenty. The 14 is worth it when fine particles are the main concern: severe allergies or asthma, or someone whose doctor wants every particle possible out of the air.

What 99.97% vs 99.99% means in practice
Both numbers are measured at 0.3 microns, the particle size that is hardest for a filter to catch. Larger and smaller particles are caught at higher rates by both. At that test size, a True HEPA filter lets through about 3 particles in every 10,000, and a Super HEPA filter about 1.
That is a real difference on paper, but it is a small slice of what decides how clean a room gets. Airflow for the room size, running the machine all the time, and a sealed cabinet so air cannot slip around the filter all matter more. Every machine on this page has the same airflow and sealing either way.

The filter costs a little more too
Airpura lists the HEPA filter at 3 to 5 years. When it is due, the Super HEPA bundle costs a bit more than the True HEPA one:
- R600 / R614 bundle with carbon, HEPA and prefilter: $414.98 for the R600, $444.98 for the R614.
- V600 / V614 bundle: $449.98 against $469.98.
- UV600 / UV614 bundle: $459.98 against $484.98.

Which one to buy
- The 00 model: dust, pollen, pet dander, smoke and odors in a normal home. True HEPA catches those, and the $50 is better spent on sizing up if the room is large.
- The 14 model: severe allergies or asthma, or a household where fine particles are the main worry and the extra margin is worth $40 to $50.

Common questions
Is Super HEPA better than True HEPA?
It is rated to catch slightly more at 0.3 microns: 99.99% against 99.97%. Everything else about the machine stays the same, so the real-world gain is small for most homes.
Is the R614 worth it over the R600?
If fine particles are the main concern, the extra $50 buys the higher-rated filter. If the problem is general dust, dander and odors, the R600 does the same job.
What is the difference between the UV600 and UV614?
Only the particle filter: True HEPA in the UV600, Super HEPA in the UV614. Both have the same UV-C lamp, carbon, airflow and room size. The UV614 costs $50 more.
