What It's Designed For

The F614 combines formaldehyde-targeted activated carbon with Super HEPA rated at 99.99% at 560 CFM — built for households where new construction off-gassing is the primary chemical concern and where asthma, severe allergies, or MCS makes the standard HEPA rating insufficient. New construction and renovation environments produce both chemical off-gassing and elevated fine particulate from construction work simultaneously; the F614 addresses both phases with a single system at maximum particle capture efficiency across approximately 2,000 sq ft.

Filtration System

Pre-Filter — Captures large particles including construction dust at intake. Protects carbon and HEPA stages. Replace annually.

Carbon Bed — 18 lbs Formaldehyde-Targeted Activated Carbon — Calibrated for the chemical profile of off-gassing building materials: formaldehyde from pressed wood, MDF, and carpet adhesives; acetaldehyde and aldehyde compounds; VOCs from paints, varnishes, and sealants; BTX compounds from construction materials; adhesive and solvent vapors.

Super HEPA — 99.99% @ 0.3 microns — Rated 99.99% at 0.3 microns, against 99.97% for standard True HEPA. Captures fine construction dust, mold spores, pollen, pet dander, PM2.5, bacteria, and airborne viral particles with maximum compact-unit efficiency.

Replacement Filter Bundles

Bundle Description Bundle Price Regular Price
#3 Bundle F600/F614 Carbon filter F600 with prefilter pack $389.98 $429.96
#7 Bundle F614 Carbon filter F600 + HEPA filter 614 + prefilter pack $534.98 $669.94

Best For

  • New construction or post-renovation homes at 2,000 sq ft scale with active off-gassing AND household members with asthma, severe allergies, or MCS
  • Households with infants, pregnant women, or immunocompromised individuals for whom both chemical and fine particle protection is a priority across larger living spaces
  • Users who need maximum particle capture alongside formaldehyde filtration in a full-size two-room unit

F614 vs. F600: The F600 uses standard HEPA 99.97%. The F614 upgrades to Super HEPA 99.99% — the correct choice when fine particle sensitivity compounds the formaldehyde concern. F614 vs. F600 DLX: The F600 DLX upgrades the carbon stage to 26 lbs of super enhanced impregnated carbon rather than the HEPA stage. If maximum formaldehyde adsorption capacity is the priority, the F600 DLX is appropriate; if maximum particle capture alongside formaldehyde is the concern, the F614 is correct. F614 vs. F714: The F714 runs at 635 CFM with the same formaldehyde + Super HEPA configuration. For larger or higher-ceiling spaces, the F714 is the upgrade.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before you buy.

Airpura rates this machine for up to 2,000 sq ft at two air changes an hour, with 8-foot ceilings. For four air changes, which is what we suggest for smoke, asthma or chemical sensitivity, plan on about 1,000 sq ft.

  • The F414 ($709.98) is the compact version: a smaller cabinet and carbon bed, rated by Airpura for 1,000 sq ft at two air changes an hour.
  • The F714 ($1,249.98) moves 635 CFM and is rated by Airpura for 2,500 sq ft at two air changes an hour, with the same filters.
  • The F600 ($1,049.98) is the same machine with a True HEPA filter, 99.97% at 0.3 microns, in place of Super HEPA at 99.99%.

Airpura filter life varies by model and usage. Airpura rates the carbon filter at about two years of continuous use in a typical home. HEPA and pre-filters have their own replacement schedules. Replacement filters are available on our filters page. Running the unit below its rated capacity meaningfully extends filter life.

Airpura units use a variable-speed motor, so you dial airflow up or down across a range rather than stepping through fixed settings. At the low end it is quiet enough to sleep beside. At the top of the range it is clearly audible and is meant for clearing a room quickly — after cooking, painting, or on a smoky day — not for running overnight. Most people settle around the middle of the range and leave it there.

No. This unit uses only mechanical filtration — no ionizer, no UV, no ozone generator. That matters for people with asthma or chemical sensitivity, because ozone is a known airway irritant. Airpura does build UV-equipped machines, and they are gathered in the UV air purifiers collection — this is not one of them.

Yes. Austin Air and Airpura units are used by patients with asthma, allergies, and chemical sensitivity. The True HEPA captures particle-class triggers and the activated carbon addresses VOCs, odors, and chemical compounds. No ionizer, no ozone — safe for respiratory conditions. For MCS specifically, the HealthMate Plus or Airpura C600 have the most relevant specifications.

Yes. Airpura units are designed for continuous residential operation. The steel-body construction and quality motor components are built for this use case. Airpura's 600 and 700 series have a variable-speed dial rather than numbered speeds, and a low to medium setting suits continuous use. Continuous operation at a moderate speed outperforms intermittent high-speed runs for maintaining consistent indoor air quality.

Airpura units ship free directly from their facility in Montreal, Canada. Most orders arrive in 4 to 9 business days, including 1 to 3 business days to process. You will receive a tracking number once your order ships. Import duties and customs fees are included in the product price — no surprise charges at delivery.

New Furniture Off-Gassing Gone

We furnished a new 1,400 sq ft addition and the formaldehyde smell from the new cabinetry and flooring was overwhelming. The F614's potassium permanganate carbon is specifically designed for formaldehyde and it handled the off-gassing far more effectively than a general carbon unit ever could. Within two weeks the smell was gone and air quality readings confirmed it.

Mid-Size Formaldehyde Unit That Works

I bought this for a medium-sized home office in a newly built home where formaldehyde from engineered wood products was a concern. The potassium permanganate filtration is noticeably more effective on formaldehyde than standard activated carbon. My headaches that I'd been attributing to allergies cleared up within a week of running this unit.
