Short answer: the Airpura R714 is the all-purpose R machine with the two upgrades that matter in a big or high-ceilinged space: Airpura's fastest airflow, 635 CFM, and the finer Super HEPA filter, rated 99.99% at 0.3 microns. It keeps the R series' 18 lbs of activated carbon and all-metal cabinet, and costs $1,049.98. It suits a large open plan where someone has asthma or severe allergies. For a normal living room, the R600 or R614 does the job for less.

Who it is for
- Large or tall spaces. An open plan, a great room or a ceiling well above 8 feet holds far more air than its floor area suggests. 635 CFM keeps that air turning over.
- Asthma or severe allergies. Super HEPA adds a small margin over True HEPA at the hardest particle size to catch. In a big room where someone is sensitive, that margin plus the airflow is the case for the R714.
- Everyday smells too. The 18 lb carbon bed handles cooking, pet and household odors alongside the particles.
When a sibling is the better buy
- R614: the same Super HEPA and carbon at 560 CFM, for about 2,000 sq ft. Enough for most living areas.
- R700: the same airflow and carbon with True HEPA, when nobody in the home is particle-sensitive.
- R600: the all-purpose choice for a normal living area. See the R600 review.
- V714: the same Super HEPA and airflow with treated carbon, when a chemical smell or off-gassing is the main problem.
What the 14 means, and why the step from 99.97% to 99.99% is small in everyday use, is in True HEPA vs Super HEPA vs HepaBarrier. For room sizes, use the size calculator.
Filters
The 700 series sells each filter on its own, on the R700 / R714 filters page: prefilter 2-pack $69.98, carbon filter $249.98, Super HEPA 714 $239.98. Which part fits which model is in Airpura replacement filters.
