First Airpura purchase and I'm happy I started here. The build quality is noticeably better than previous units I've owned. For my 950 sq ft apartment the R400 is sufficient. The 18 lbs of carbon handles everyday odors and dust without any issues. Will probably upgrade to an R600 when I move.
The R400 is an excellent machine for a smaller home or apartment. Same Airpura build quality at a more accessible size. Highly effective and very quiet at lower settings.
I use the R400 in my open studio apartment — about 850 sq ft. It covers the whole space easily. The 18 lbs of carbon manages cooking smells and allergens from an older building. Very happy with the performance and the compact-for-Airpura form factor.
Living in a 1100 sq ft apartment, the R400 is the right choice. The R600 would be overkill for my square footage. This covers my space efficiently, handles dust and cooking odors, and the 18 lbs of carbon means I'm not replacing the filter constantly.
Good unit for a bedroom or small apartment. The R400 runs quietly enough on medium that it doesn't disturb sleep. My allergies are better in the morning compared to before. The only thing I'd note is that for larger spaces you'd want to step up to the R600.

I didn't need a full 2000 sq ft unit for my bedroom. The R400 is sized appropriately — 18 lbs of carbon in a smaller package. It handles the bedroom and connected bath without working hard. Very quiet on medium, which is all I need for overnight use.
The R400 is much easier to relocate than the larger Airpura models. I shift it between my bedroom and a home office depending on where I'm spending time. For a 1000 sq ft apartment that flexibility is useful. Air quality improvement has been consistent wherever I place it.
