The R714 combines the R700's 635 CFM all-purpose platform with Super HEPA rated at 99.99% — maximum particle capture efficiency at the highest airflow in the Airpura lineup. It is the correct configuration for high-volume spaces where all-purpose broad-spectrum purification is needed and where asthma, severe allergies, or immune compromise makes the additional fine particle capture margin of Super HEPA clinically relevant. At 635 CFM, the R714 provides faster air cycling than the R614 (560 CFM) with the same Super HEPA specification.

R714 vs. R700: The R700 uses standard HEPA 99.97%. The R714 upgrades to Super HEPA 99.99% — the correct choice when fine particle sensitivity demands maximum capture efficiency. R714 vs. R614: The R614 runs at 560 CFM with the same Super HEPA. The R714 provides 635 CFM — the correct choice when greater airflow is needed. R714 vs. V714: The V714 uses impregnated carbon + UV-C + Super HEPA. For targeted VOC removal with pathogen control alongside maximum particle capture, the V714 is appropriate.

Airpura filter life varies by model and usage. The carbon bed in this unit is rated to last 2–3 years under continuous use in a typical residential environment. HEPA and pre-filters have their own replacement schedules. Replacement filters are available on our filters page. Running the unit below its rated capacity meaningfully extends filter life.
Airpura units use a variable-speed motor, so you dial airflow up or down across a range rather than stepping through fixed settings. At the low end it is quiet enough to sleep beside. At the top of the range it is clearly audible and is meant for clearing a room quickly — after cooking, painting, or on a smoky day — not for running overnight. Most people settle around the middle of the range and leave it there.
No. This unit uses only mechanical filtration — no ionizer, no UV, no ozone generator. It is safe for people with asthma, chemical sensitivity, and other respiratory conditions where ozone is a known irritant. Airpura does build UV-equipped machines, and they are gathered in the UV air purifiers collection — this is not one of them.
Yes. Austin Air and Airpura units are used by patients with asthma, allergies, and chemical sensitivity. The True HEPA captures particle-class triggers and the activated carbon addresses VOCs, odors, and chemical compounds. No ionizer, no ozone — safe for respiratory conditions. Most Airpura users run their units continuously at speed 2–3. Continuous operation at a moderate speed outperforms intermittent high-speed runs for maintaining consistent indoor air quality.
