What It's Designed For
The F400 DLX is the high-capacity formaldehyde configuration of the 400 series — the same compact platform with the carbon stage upgraded to super enhanced impregnated activated carbon calibrated for maximum formaldehyde and aldehyde adsorption. It is designed for environments with severe or prolonged off-gassing loads: new construction with extensive pressed wood and MDF, renovations involving adhesives and sealants across multiple rooms, or any household where standard formaldehyde-targeted carbon has proven insufficient. The impregnated carbon extends the effective adsorption range to reactive aldehyde compounds and VOC categories that standard carbon misses.

Filtration System
Pre-Filter — Captures large particles including construction dust at intake. Protects carbon and HEPA stages. Replace annually.
Carbon Bed — Super Enhanced Impregnated Activated Carbon — Chemically impregnated for maximum formaldehyde adsorption capacity. Targets formaldehyde and acetaldehyde from pressed wood, MDF, carpet adhesives, and cabinetry; BTX VOCs from paints, varnishes, and sealants; reactive aldehyde compounds requiring impregnation for effective capture; adhesive vapors and synthetic flooring off-gassing. Greater adsorption capacity than the F400's standard carbon for environments with prolonged or heavy off-gassing loads.
True HEPA — 99.97% @ 0.3 microns — Removes fine construction dust, mold spores, pollen, PM2.5, bacteria, and airborne viral particles.

Best For
- New construction environments with extensive pressed wood, MDF, or adhesive-intensive materials where the F400's standard carbon capacity is insufficient
- Prolonged off-gassing scenarios where filtration is required for more than the standard 6–12 month peak period
- Households with MCS members for whom both formaldehyde and reactive aldehyde compounds are chemical triggers
- Users who have used the F400 and need upgraded adsorption capacity without stepping up to the F600's two-room footprint
F400 DLX vs. F400: The F400 uses standard formaldehyde-targeted activated carbon. The F400 DLX upgrades to super enhanced impregnated carbon — the correct choice for heavy off-gassing loads or when aldehyde compounds beyond formaldehyde are the primary concern. F400 DLX vs. F414: The F414 upgrades the HEPA stage to Super HEPA 99.99% rather than the carbon stage. If maximum particle capture alongside formaldehyde is the concern, the F414 is appropriate; if maximum formaldehyde adsorption capacity is the priority, the F400 DLX is correct. F400 DLX vs. F600 DLX: The F600 DLX carries the same impregnated carbon formulation at 560 CFM for 2,000 sq ft. The F400 DLX is correctly sized for a single room.
